Oaxaca Day Of The Dead Tour Itinerary
Everyone must be in by 10:00 PM on October 29th. You will have to book your own flights to Oaxaca City so make sure you arrive on this date.
You will be picked up at the airport by our VIP drivers. They will be waiting for you at the arrivals gate holding a sign with your name.

9:30 AM – Oaxaca City Walking Tour
Immerse yourself in the vibrant streets of Oaxaca as we explore its rich colors and cultural charm. This is a walking tour, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
Our journey begins at the famous Andador Turístico on Alcala Street, a lively corridor filled with history and character. We will end up in Jalatlaco neighborhood by foot.
1:00 PM – Oaxacan Cooking Class
Located in a nearby town, about 45 minutes from Oaxaca City, this hands-on experience invites you to learn the secrets of authentic Oaxacan cuisine. Guided by our welcoming local hosts, you’ll prepare traditional dishes and enjoy a delicious meal together, savoring the flavors of Oaxaca.
We are expected to be back in Oaxaca City by 5:00 PM. You have a free time in the evening but most of the group goes out for dinner and drinks!
7:00 AM – Hierve El Agua Tour
Our adventure begins with a scenic hike to the petrified waterfalls, a moderate 45-minute trek that offers stunning views. The trail is manageable, but wearing comfortable shoes is recommended for ease and enjoyment.
After the hike, we’ll return to the natural pools, where you can unwind, take a refreshing swim, sip a drink, and soak in the breathtaking surroundings at your own pace. Don’t forget to capture the moment with photos!
2:00 PM – Lunch at a Local Eatery
We will stop for lunch in a local spot near Hierve El Agua. You’ll have the best lunch tacos on a comal!
We are expected to be back in Oaxaca by 4:00 PM. You can rest and in the evening, we will all go out and experience the vibrant city. This is halloween night so there will be many kids around!
9:00 AM – Oaxaca Mezcal Tour [WATCH VIDEO]
We’ll start our journey with a scenic hour-long drive from the hotel to the mezcal fields. Upon arrival at the palenque, a welcoming local family will greet us and provide a brief overview of the day ahead.
From there, we’ll hop onto a truck for a short 15-minute ride to the heart of the mezcal fields, where you’ll gain firsthand insight into the traditional mezcal-making process.
6:00 PM – Catrina Make-Up
A team of talented makeup artists will set up at your hotel to create your stunning Catrina look. To ensure your vision comes to life, have a Pinterest reference ready—our artists are skilled at replicating designs with precision!
8:00 PM – Jalatlaco Comparsa
Jalatlaco is famous for its vibrant comparsas, a must-experience spectacle in Oaxaca. This lively celebration combines music, dance, and deep-rooted tradition, bringing the streets to life with energy and artistry.
We’ll dance and join the festivities, enjoy dinner and drinks, and fully embrace the magic of this unique cultural event!
BREAKFAST LUNCH3:00 PM – Cemetery Tour
Our next stop takes us to one of Oaxaca’s most traditional cemeteries, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to meet local families and hear their heartfelt stories about loved ones who have passed.
They’ll share insights into Día de Muertos customs, cultural traditions, and the significance of this sacred celebration. As night falls, the cemetery will glow with candlelight and vibrant marigold flowers, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
8:00 PM – Farewell Dinner
For our final evening in Oaxaca City, we’ll gather at a lively Mexican restaurant featuring an authentic Mariachi band.
BREAKFASTNo activities planned. Be ready for checkout at 12:00 PM. Drivers will take you to the airport according to your flight details.
Optional: Some of us will stay and we will have a brunch at a rooftop bar in Oaxaca!
