2019 travel goals and plans

Writing my 2019 travel goals and plans in the hopes that I will be devoted to them

Where did January go? How is it possible that today is already January 20th and I feel so unproductive? What happened in those days?!!? I never did write any 2019 travel goals but I feel like if I write about it, whether I succeed or fail, it is a great affirmation to actually dream and plot my best life.

I recently wrote about how it has taken me so many years to accept that it’s okay to live life in reverse order. In the culture I grew up in, the chronological order is an unspoken law that all of us had to follow: finish school, get a high-paying job, get married, adopt a dog, buy a house, have a baby, have more babies.

That has been unconsciously ingrained in every young adult’s mind but when I tried to break the pattern, I have come to a conclusion my life would not be ‘messed up’ if I did it in different orders. The erratic change in my life every year made my friends and family lost and confused so whenever they ask me why I keep changing my decisions and the way I live, there’s only one thing I say:

We don’t have unlimited chances to get what we want. Nothing is worse than missing an opportunity that could have changed your life. So whatever is in front of me, as long as it feels right, I take it.

The Universe will not respect the timeline you made for yourself but it will always revolve around the decision you’ve made. It has no agenda whatsoever to make your life harder or miserable. ALL IS UP TO YOU.

Most of you have asked me to explore the possibility of doing a Youtube channel and believe me, I have tried. Through the years, I have been thinking hard on how I can be able to integrate my writing into visual aids (apart from photos) but my dilemma was always about the cluttered world of Youtube: I wanted to find my voice and not be just another noise in the noise. I needed to create something that is original – something that no one has done before.

Alas, that day came. I had a day of sitting down and analysing my thoughts thoroughly. I have formulated an idea that I really like. Something that resonates who I am and what kind of life all of us can achieve if we learn how to express our ideas and put them into life. I am very positive about this idea. Even if people won’t like it, I know this is something I want to create and share. As always, nothing matters if we like what we do. The only opinion that counts is ours.

For now, you will not find anything new on my channel. Most of it are just cluttered and scattered struggles about how to make a good video but I’d love for you to subscribe to my Youtube channel so when March 2019 comes, you will be one of the first to see what I have created. [/us_iconbox]

[us_iconbox icon=”fas|angle-double-right” size=”18px” iconpos=”left” title=”I am going to announce a “free travel with me“ contest soon!” title_tag=”h6″]

This is the thing I am excited about the most! In a few months, I will choose two (2) people to travel with me (backpacking style). I will shoulder the flights and other stuff. All you have to do is to BE AVAILABLE!

I will announce this in March 2019 so if you want to be in the loop, subscribe to my Youtube channel (I promise there will be a lot of content soon!) and/or follow the announcements on Instagram.

Additionally, I am sure I will be always needing new people to join my team so make sure to regularly check my job list. You might be the one I need! [/us_iconbox]

I know some of you might think that if I focus on one endeavour such as making videos, the content of this blog will suffer. I can guarantee you that it will never happen. You will still get to read some fresh and raw thoughts about travel, life and dreams even if I am going to film most of the time.

However, I would like to ask for your help: can you please send me an e-mail about what kind of written content you’d love to see in this blog this year? It will really help me help you!

Feel free to contact me anytime for your content suggestions! We can also chat via DM on Instagram![/us_iconbox]

[us_iconbox icon=”fas|angle-double-right” size=”18px” iconpos=”left” title=”I promise to make time for all of you in every city I go to” title_tag=”h6″]

I was recently in Singapore and a lot of people sent me messages if there was a meet-up. Through the years, I have met up readers in Tbilisi, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Hanoi, Bangkok, Tel Aviv and many more. The people whom I met here are not just readers/followers now but also became my good friends and allies. It felt really refreshing to not talk about myself but hear other people’s stories about their lives.

These past few months, I just did not have the energy and time for it because of some commitments that I have promised my time to. That excuse was not enough for me so I vowed to myself, no matter what, I will have to meet all of you even just for a few hours. You are all important to me and I think you are the most vital in making my life a success. The support I constantly get from all of you is so overwhelming.

So, thank you. Thank you for everything! Below are the cities I will be the countries I will be visiting this year – all of which I intend to stay for one (1) month. We’ll have all the time together!

Of course, not everything goes how it is planned so I’ll make another promise: I will update this post if I ever change my route. I hope to meet all of you along the way![/us_iconbox][us_separator type=”default” style=”dashed” color=”primary” text=”All the places we will go to” title_tag=”h4″ align=”left”]

I will travel all these by land! Aside from personally meeting you, I would love to ask you for more help. I need the following:

  • Local families from each country whom I can stay with a few days
  • A local who can cook and can introduce me to the local home cooking of each country
  • Of course, all the places I should go but only outdoor activities, please!

If you know anyone that qualifies above, please get in touch and/or leave a comment below.

Again, thank you so much for all your support. I would love for us to share more successes in 2019. Cheers!

Trisha is one of those people who left their comfortable life to travel the world and learn about life. Her style is to stay in one place she likes for 3 months (or more) to know what it feels like to eat, cook, speak, and sleep in another culture that isn’t hers. She'd like to believe she's not traditionally traveling but she just chooses to be somewhere else all the time. In no particular order, her favorite cities in the world are Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, Mexico City, and Tel Aviv.

I’ve started travelling with my friends five years or so ago. Ot’s always been around South East Asia as it is easy and practical, but also because these countries are rich of culture and places to enjoy; the food and folks are definitely memorable. But this year, we want to go outside of Asia and plan to visit Perth. Hope to continue this yearly travels until I also reach my dream country.

Can totally relate to this post. When I left home at 16 and decided to stop going to university and volunteer in a shelter for abused and abandoned children, a lot of people didn’t understand – especially my parents. It took them a long time to understand that I don’t really need to finish a degree to get a good job and of course, to be ‘financially stable’. I am all for creating our own path. I’m happy with mine despite living it in whatever order I choose to. ? Keep inspiring, Trisha.

Currently under construction but I’ll be back soon!

P.S. I'm On My Way is a blog by Trisha Velarmino. She didn't
quit her job to travel the world. She made a job out of traveling and you can do it, too.
